Eurotrip 2019 Fabric Haul

Happy New Year, friends! I hope 2020 has started amazing for you! Also, if it hasn't started that great, remember that it's also just a new day, a new week, a new month and you can take everything one day at a time. No need to pressure yourself to start over. Start from where you are and make progress at your own pace <3.

I haven't been on here since BEFORE I went on my (what has now become) annual Eurotrip! Of course, while I was overseas, I took the time to visit some fabric shops. So I'm back here to show you what I picked up in Belgium and in Spain.

Fabric Shopping in Panama!

In December I went back to Panama to spend the holidays with my family there! Since 2014, every year that I go, I make sure to do some fabric shopping at some point. This year I happened to VLOG the whole experience!

Fabrics from Germany

In my last post, I talked about visiting Germany on my first Eurotrip! I planned most of the things I wanted to do and see before I left but one thing hadn't even crossed my mind. I have been on a "fabric fast" all year so fabric shopping wasn't anywhere near my list of desires, but once I got acclimated into my accommodations in Cologne I started thinking "there might be a fabric store around here".

Todo por La Patria - Panama 2015

Hi friends :-) If you know me in real life (or follow me on instagram) you know that I went to Panama last month for a little more than a week. Last year I went for Carnaval but this year I decided to go for Independence day. It was awesome. There were Panamanian flags on every house and business and multi-day parades and constant news coverage on the history of Panama. 

I decided to do a photo dump on the 2 days of parades. Nov 3rd was spent watching the more traditional paraders. Schools, military, indigenous groups, and organizations. People dress up their children in traditional costumes and it's an all out good time. My mom even got interviewed by a tv personality LOL. 

The 4th was more about independent bands and their dancing, tricks, and fancy instruments. I only have evening pics for the independent bands but I had so much fun watching them. I want to join a band so bad! lol Enjoy!

Soma somewhere near Sona - Papercut Soma Swimsuit

One of my favorite shows to have EVER been on television is Prison Break! I, to this day, believe that the writing and acting were touched by a literal angel lol. I'm pretty good at predicting tv shows and movies. More than pretty good actually, spot on most times. The thing about Prison Break was that as soon as you start catching on to how the plots work and the spins in the writing, they put a spin on THAT spin. Pretty much, you can never see what's coming next. Check it out on Netflix. I promise you won't be disappointed.

Most people that read my blog know that my mom's side of the family is from Panama. I had the pleasure of going back to Panama again last week for vacation and had a BLAST. Back to why I was telling you about Prison Break. There is a point in the show where the lead actor gets sent to a prison in Panama. The name of that prison is SONA. That season of the show is so outlandish and intense that it made me proud that they used Panama as the place to shoot it lol. Even though Sona isn't REALLY a prison in Panama, every time I go to a beach in Panama I feel like it's right on the other side of the bushes.

So I said all that to say that I made a swimsuit to where to Panama for vacation LOL. The pattern I chose is the Soma Swimsuit by Papercut Patterns. I cut the Bikini Variation 1 in a size small.

Toronto 2015

I went to Canada this year with a few of my friends to check out what Caribana was all about and hit OVO Fest at the same time. If you're not familiar with Caribana, it's the caribbean carnival hosted in Toronto every year. And OVO Fest is the 2 day music festival that Drake hosts every year on the same weekend! 

We stayed in an AirBnb right in the middle of the city!This is a mini photo dump of some highlights of the trip. I like to keep some of my travel memories to myself ;-) but I'll caption the photos below to give a little bit more info of the things what went on!

Windy Remnant Kimono

Heyyyyyy guys! I was on a roll last month with getting projects cranked out and I'm not trying to slow down now. I went to California this past weekend to and I wanted to make something for my trip since I never really do vacation sewing. I needed something super easy because I didn't have a lot of time to make anything. After rummaging through my stash of remnants, I found this pretty chiffon and decided a kimono would be the quick project I was looking for.

New Orleans 2015 !



In February I went to New Orleans with my friend Andre to see my favoritest band on the planet, Snarky Puppy. We got tickets to go to one of the live recording sessions of their new album and it JUST so happened to be the same weekend as Mardi Gras! How convenient, right? lol 

So we went up there the Tuesday before Mardi Gras and stayed til Saturday morning. It was quite a fulfilling trip and I had a great time with Andre too! We went to the Aquarium, rode on Algier's Ferry, went to Mardi Gras World and the Museum of Art's Scultpure Garden. The food was super good and I got to see a couple of parades as well. We saw a lot of live music and rode around on the streetcar... I don't have pics of EVERYTHING you'll get a good idea lol. Our hotel was a half a block from Bourbon St. so we did some exploring there too. Great experience!

Puerto Rico 2014!

Not quite sure why it takes me so long to blog about my travels when it's mostly just a photo dump lol Anyhoo, I went to Puerto Rico last month with my friend Macy. I had a five day weekend so we went just because. We stayed in San Juan at her friend Detti's apartment and his roommate Lucia. Puerto Rico was such a beautiful country and is one that I plan to visit again in the future!

Unfortunately, the first day it got there, it rained all day! And I don't mean just regular rain. It was like a torrential downpour lol The people there were even surprised. Lucky for us, it had stopped by the night time and we were able to go out to La Plazita. But before I get ahead of myself, first, we went to Bebo's Cafe in the afternoon to eat.

Birthday Recap! - DR 2014

Sooo my birthday was almost 3 weeks ago and I spent it in the Dominican Republic with 4 of my cousins and one of my best friends!

I turned 24 :-)

None of us had ever been to the Dominican Republic so it was a new experience for all of us.

We stayed at Majestic Colonial, an all-inclusive resort.

It was so much fun! I love interacting with people at all-inclusives!

As soon as they know you speak the language they immediately treat you like your their best friend lol!

Before I do this photo/video dump, I just want to thank everyone that wished me "Happy Birthday", bought me a gift, a card or helped celebrate!

I love y'all man! *sheds single tear*

Panama Carnavales 2014

Que Sopa?!

Okay, so I know this post is SUPER late because I went to Panama in March and it's now June lol

My maternal family is Panamanian so I've pretty much been raised in the culture.

I actually lived in Panama for a brief time and went to school there as well.

I found my old school registration card

So Panama holds a huge place in my heart.

I went to Carnaval this year with a large amount of family and had and AMAZING time.
Weather in the 90's, awesome food, music everywhere, sandy beaches, nonstop dancing!
So far one of the greatest times I've had this year.

California Dreamin'

Sorry for being so absent!

I went to California for about a week and when I got back I was all jet lagged and stuff and too tired to write lol

Mrs. Carter [Reconstructed]

 This weekend I went to the Mrs. Carter World Tour Show in Atlantic City, NJ!

I was really excited and one of my first thoughts was:

"What am I going to wear?!"

 

I googled "What to wear to a beyonce concert" and I didn't really see anything I liked.

plus I REALLY didn't feel like spending any money.

 

As I was going through the google image search of outfits I came across this hi-low skirt and crop top and I thought:

That's it!

 

After rummaging through my closet and realizing that I don't HAVE a hi-low skirt, or a real crop top to accompany it, I went into TellTaleTasha mode.

"What do I have in my closet to form this outfit?"

Chicago Recap

I went to Chi- town for the first time this weekend!

And I took my new camera with me to document!

Still haven't gotten a chance to read the manual so I was definitely still working on the auto setting lol

I went to sing at a concert with the mass choir from my church.

But when we got there, we got sooo much more than we expected.
