Puerto Rico 2014!

Not quite sure why it takes me so long to blog about my travels when it's mostly just a photo dump lol Anyhoo, I went to Puerto Rico last month with my friend Macy. I had a five day weekend so we went just because. We stayed in San Juan at her friend Detti's apartment and his roommate Lucia. Puerto Rico was such a beautiful country and is one that I plan to visit again in the future!

Unfortunately, the first day it got there, it rained all day! And I don't mean just regular rain. It was like a torrential downpour lol The people there were even surprised. Lucky for us, it had stopped by the night time and we were able to go out to La Plazita. But before I get ahead of myself, first, we went to Bebo's Cafe in the afternoon to eat.

Macy and I both got stuffed Mofongo. I got the chicken and she got the crab. Mofongo is mashed green plantains. It was really good :-)

La Plazita is an area with a bunch of bars and clubs that apparently all of San Juan goes to on Friday night lol It was packed with residents and tourists alike..... although I couldn't really tell who the tourists were in Puerto Rico until they started speaking lol These are the only photos I have from Friday night in the middle of bar hopping because I was having fun lol

The next morning we woke up and it was SUPER sunny and hot! Thank God lol Macy and I decided to walk over to this little bakery/brunch joint called Café Marquesa. It was THE BEST! I will probably go back to Puerto Rico and try to eat there every day lol

After brunch we met back up with our hosts and their coworker to head to Old San Juan. We were gonna go to El Yunque originally but it was closed because of the rain the day before.

took this for Monicas <3 (inside joke lol)

It was such a beautiful day. The sky was sooo pretty! That night, we went back to Old San Juan because apparently Saturday night is Old San Juan night around those parts. And it was true. SOOO many people were out there! I didn't take pics of the crowd cuz I didn't want to be a creep lol But we went to a few different bars and what not.

On our last full day we decided that we NEEDED to be at somebody's beach! lol We went to Ocean Park Beach in Condado. It was a bit overcast but it was still about 80. There wasn't a lot of people there though because apparently they think 80 is too cold for the beach in PR lol

It did start raining again, unfortunately. So we left the beach and went to get something to eat. I randomly wanted to try this plantain sandwich that was on the menu lol It wasn't all that great :-/

After relaxing and what not, Macy and I decided to go back to Old San Juan to have a late dinner. We wanted to go to Raìces but by the time we got there it was closed. So we ended up going to Lupis which wasn't a bad choice. I got the plantain wrapped in bacon loool Puerto Ricans are serious about their plantain.

On Monday, Macy had left for her flight by the time I woke up and both Detti and Lucia had gone to work, so I got up and got dressed and chilled until it was time for lunch. I met Detti at this Burrito place called B de Burro because Café Marquesa was closed *sheds tear*. It was so good though! I had the shrimp tostadas!

And that is the last pic I took in Puerto Rico! Hope you enjoyed what I shared :-). I definitely want to go back because there was so much stuff that I wanted to do but couldn't because of the rain. I also realized on this trip that staying with someone you know is MUCH better than staying at a resort or hotel. I'm glad I got to stay in the city with the locals. Puerto Ricans are so nice!

See you in the next post, shawty!

  1. I love Puerto Rico! I did a 10 month exchange there during college, and it was the best experience. I particularly loved that when we went out dancing, you'd find people from teens to seniors in the same place, all dancing salsa. So much to love about PR.

  2. What a great trip you had! Love the pictures. It looks like such a beautiful place to visit. I love that you get pictures of yourself during your trip, too. If you go by my photos, you would think I wasn't there at all since I am always behind the camera.
