My New Staple - Le Wash&Go

I. Love. Wash&Gos.
One of the things that initially excited me about going natural was the fact that I wasn't going to have to do much to my hair or that I wasn't going to have to spend a bunch of time on it.
Unfortunately, with all of the twist-outs, braid-outs, bantu-knot-outs, flexi rods, banding, stretching, flat-twisting and everything else, that initial excitement turned into a complete myth.

In my 2-year relaxer free post, I stated that the twist-out was my new staple style.
And it was.
.......... For like, one more week after that post lol

I had just, at the time, been deemed the "Twist-out Queen" by a friend of mine and then I completely abandoned it.
And I'm not sorry.

The time it took me to wash my hair, all the way to being done twisting was almost 3 hours... on a good day.
*cue Sweet Brown*

3 hours.
To be frank, I love my hair and all.. but there are way more important things in life lol
And God has given me the opportunity to be involved in alot of things recently and my schedule no longer lends itself to a SuperBowl-Sunday-long hair session.

Not only THAT, but then there's the retwisting every night to preserve the styles and the RE-take-down in the morning!
o_O

As much as I loved how my twist-outs came out, I knew there HAD to be something lazier easier.

I originally thought I didn't HAVE wash&go hair.
"What IS wash&go hair?" you may ask....IDK. lol

I just thought my hair wouldn't do it.
Or it would be too tangled
Or it would be a poofy mess.
Or I was just being silly.
Like "they" say...
"Don't knock it 'til you try it."

I did it.
I fell in love.
And I'm not looking back.

3 day old wash&go

Shrinkage
I honestly couldn't care less about shrinkage.
And it's funny that I'm saying that NOW considering, during my entire transition, I was length-obsessed.

I think it has boiled down to 2 things:

1. I don't use heat-styling tools. At all.
Which is just a personal decision.

2. BECAUSE I don't use heat-styling tools, I don't feel like putting in all of the extra effort that it takes to stretch natural hair withOUT heat.

So I just let it rock.

I've become an extremely lazy natural lol

And let's be REAL.
Who CARES if my hair isn't down my back everyday?!
One of my favorites perks about being natural IS that I can have LONG healthy hair, yes.
But exactly who am I trying to prove my length to?
I know how long my hair is and how much it is growing and I no longer feel the need to put it on display for the world to see.
They ain't buying my hair products! lol
About 3 inches from BSL (bra strap length)

My hair is past arm pit length and doesn't even touch my shoulders in a wash&go lol

2-Chaiinnnnzzzzzzzz!

Close-UP
This is a 6th day wash & go.
Meaning, I did the actual wash & go process 5 days ago and I haven't done anything to it since.
I'll explain what "anything" means later on in the post.
Wednesday night.
Original wash&go done on Friday morning.

Viva la frizz!

My Routine
I follow the Curly Girl Method.
I think I'm going to lend an entire post to the CG method in a LATER post because I DO want to relay the information.
But TODAY I will explain what I do on wash day and the days following.

0. (optional) Pre-poo or Pre-Shampoo
If i'm doing it on the weekend and I know I have a lot of chores or if I know I'm gonna wash my hair the next day, sometimes I put conditioner on my hair for a while before I evens step in the shower.
I gues you can call this deep-conditioning too.

I usually have a bout 5 sections in my hair.
I do the following to each section

1. Saturate hair with water
2. Add my favorite conditioner in the whole wide world.
3. Actually take a shower
4. Finger detangle and wash out conditioner
5. Add leave-in conditioner to soaking wet hair.
6. Add gel.
7.Air dry

That's it.
And it lasts me about a week.

At night, I just sleep lol
I don't where a bonnet and I don't wear a scarf anymore
*gasp* I know. Just breaking all the natural rules lol

I just sleep on the satin side of my body pillow.
In the morning, when I take my showers, the steam from the water refreshes my curls.
I don't re-wet my hair.
(well, the bottom gets a little wet when im washing my neck lol)

When I get out of the shower, I just shake and keep it moving :-D

*sings*
It could allllll be so simple!
But you'd rather make it haaaaard!

lol jk
I'm not knocking anyone who has a multi-step process
I'm just saying.... come to light! lol

    1. Thanks for asking, Delesia! :-)

      1. My FAVORITE conditioner is Yes To Carrots Pampering Conditioner.
      2. And I add my leave-in conditioner to soaking wet hair OUT of the shower.
So I'm adding the leave-in and the gel outside of the shower.

      Hope that's clear!

    1. No ma'am...
with gel, i can go about 7 days.
without gel, i can last about 3 days.

I'm trying to experiment without using gel to see if my hair will train itself.
I'll get back to you on the results :-)
